20 years of DMB Technics – 40 years of passion for LCDs, customer focus and expertise
On November 11th, DMB Technics AG proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary. The company was founded in 2005 by two engineers and an accountant. The engineers brought deep expertise in display technologies, while the accountant contributed sharp financial knowledge. Together, they formed a powerful team with a shared vision—and DMB Technics was born. What began as a trio of specialists has grown into a successful medium-sized company with around 35 employees. One of the founding engineers, Dieter Heimgartner, is still actively involved in the daily business and remains as Chairman of the Board. He played a key role in the development of STN technology and is co-owner of the globally significant STN patent.

In the display world, brilliant colors and fast refresh rates often take center stage. Generation changes at DMB Technics AG
DMB Technics AG from Hünenberg, Switzerland, is preparing for the future: After 20 successful years as CEO and CMO, Dieter Heimgartner and Christa Barmettler are handing over their executive positions to the new management team. As of April 1, 2025, Joël Heimgartner will take over as CEO. Together with Philipp Achermann as CSO, Janine Flückiger as CFO, and Raphael Maurer as CTO, the new management team will lead DMB Technics AG into its next phase of growth. All management members have been long-standing employees of DMB Technics, ensuring a smooth internal succession. Both Dieter Heimgartner and Christa Barmettler will remain with the company as President and Board Member, ensuring continuity and stability.

AMOLED – Technological Advances and Future Perspectives
The Active Matrix OLED (AMOLED) technology has established itself as an advanced display solution that is used in mobile devices, wearables, televisions and industrial HMIs. AMOLED uses organic materials to generate light, along with an active matrix of thin-film transistors (TFTs) to enable precise control of each pixel. This combination offers better picture quality, higher energy efficiency and more flexible design options than traditional technologies such as TFT LCD displays.

In the world of display technology, there are some milestones that shape entire industries. This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of them: the granting of the patent for super-twisted nematic (STN) technology in 1984. The person behind this patent is Dieter Heimgartner, co-inventor of STN technology and founder of DMB Technics AG in Hünenberg, Switzerland. With his expertise and innovative spirit, he laid the foundations for the success of this groundbreaking technology and his company.
