Customized Display Elements “Touch”
Resistive and capacitive touch panels are almost always used in the LCD sector. Nowadays, however, the focus is on capacitive touch panels, because they have a longer service life and thus a big advantage over resistive ones. CTPs (capacitive touch panels) offer a choice of three different structures.
40 years of the super-twisted nematic (STN-LCD) patent
In the world of display technology, there are some milestones that shape entire industries. This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of them: the granting of the patent for super-twisted nematic (STN) technology in 1984. The person behind this patent is Dieter Heimgartner, co-inventor of STN technology and founder of DMB Technics AG in Hünenberg, Switzerland. With his expertise and innovative spirit, he laid the foundations for the success of this groundbreaking technology and his company.
Customized Display Elements “LCD-Case”
The case belongs to the display like the lid to the pan. But there are a few things to bear in mind when attaching it. A simple and cost-effective method of mounting is to stick the module into the enclosure using DST (Double Side Gluetape). Depending on the tightness requirements, however, the DST must be attached differently.
What actually means “CTP | RTP”
The CTP (Capacitive Touch Panel) is more expensive compared to an RTP, but has a much longer service life. The structure consists of a two-layer coordinate network. The lower electrode (glass with ITO) is divided into columns and the upper electrode into rows.
